From June 27 to 28, Zhang Shaogang, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), led a delegation to visit the Kingdom of Tonga. They met with Viliami Uasike Latu, Tonga’s Minister for Trade and Economic Development and Minister for Tourism, Viliami Takau, CEO of Tonga’s Ministry of Tourism, and Sam Vea, President of the Tonga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and among other political and business leaders. They attended a China-Tonga business seminar and dinner reception where they held in-depth exchanges on promoting the import of high-quality Tongan products to China, supporting Chinese businesses to invest in Tonga, expanding cooperation in the e-commerce sector, building institutionalized communication with Tonga’s Ministry of Trade and Economic Development and other agencies, as well as participating in the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE).
Additionally, the delegation also met with Liu Weimin,the Chinese Ambassador to Tonga, and investigated China-aid projects in Tonga, including the renovation of royal mausoleum’s peripheral area and the construction of sports venues.
